The Doelenpoort and the Arsenal

This gate once led to the Leiden civic guard’s training grounds, with the adjacent Arsenal serving the same barracks. Today, both are part of Leiden University.

The Weddesteeg and De Put Windmill

Rembrandt van Rijn was born on Weddesteeg in 1606, the son of a miller whose mill stood nearby. He spent his youth here, right by the Molen de Put that still stands today.

The Burcht of Leiden

The Burcht isn’t a true fortress, but a 10th-century man-made hill topped with a ring wall—no castle ever stood here. It served as a lookout during the Siege of Leiden and is now one of the city’s finest viewpoints.

Super leuke city escape met een interessant historisch verhaal! Een mooie route door de stad met leuke puzzels. Zelfs als je de stad al kent is het een aanrader. De pauzeknop is ook ideaal, waardoor we tussendoor lekker konden lunchen. Al met al erg leuk!
