De Waag

De Waag dates back to 1598. Farmers weighed their butter and cheese here for the market—mostly butter, totaling some 1.7 million kg per year. This earned the building its nickname: the Butter Weigh House.

De Kanselarij

Built between 1566 and 1571, this building served as the high court of Friesland. It later functioned as a hospital, barracks, prison, and, in 1917, the provincial library. Look for the four stone lions bearing the coats of arms of the four ancient Frisian quarters.

De Oldehove

The leaning tower of Leeuwarden was never finished; it began to sink during construction in the 16th century. In the square out front, 24 stones mark the outlines of the old St. Vitus Church.

Super leuke city escape met een interessant historisch verhaal! Een mooie route door de stad met leuke puzzels. Zelfs als je de stad al kent is het een aanrader. De pauzeknop is ook ideaal, waardoor we tussendoor lekker konden lunchen. Al met al erg leuk!
